When I was a child I did not realize the sacrifices that my parents have done just so that I may have a better life. We were a simple family and that means that my parents have to save every penny just so that me and my brothers can go to a better school. My mom had to work even on a Saturday just to make ends meet and had to sacrifice gong to the movies and other simple luxuries so that me and my brothers can have something to eat everyday.
Growing up it was tough but we enjoyed the simple things in life. We may not have the luxuries that other rich families have but I believe that whats important is the love that you have for each other. As much as we can, we tried to eat together at the dinning table every dinner and have our favorite food every Sunday where we make sure that we are always together.
Now a days a lot of parents have to travel overseas just to find work. They endure the loneliness of being alone in a foreign country and the feeling of being away from their families. They do that to provide a better life for their families. It is such a huge sacrifice, that we sometimes do not appreciate the enormous effort that overseas Filipino workers and migrants are doing. This is just one of the Ofw stories you may heard, there are more others more courageous.
Ofw’s deserve the to be given the credit and the honor to be called as modern day heroes because of the sacrifices they take to provide for their families. We need to thank them for all the all they have done not just for their families but also for our country. Without them, I don’t know what would have happen to our economy. Thank you Ofw‘s for your efforts.
